The Aquatic Wellness Center (AWC), a non-profit organization, is the brain-child of Myrna Shaneyfelt, founder and director of the AWC. She is spearheading the whole development to create and build a community, multi-pool facility. See Myrna's Bio
The Facility The AWC will house an oval “Lazy River” - the largest, moving, warm water pool in Southern Oregon. Built so the handicapped will also have complete access to all areas; the large 25 yard 6 lane deep water pool will have moving floors and ramp entrances for wheel chairs, plus ramps to the large family slide in the Slide Pool area. There will also be a large warm water Hydro-Therapy Pool and even a Surfing Pool, known as the “Flow Rider”. Please go to the Pool Design Page to see the plans and a complete listing of the center's features and facilities. Please also watch the 7-minute video below on Myrna and her plans for the AWC.
National Training Center The teaching techniques developed by Myrna over the last 50 + years will be taught at the Aquatic Wellness Center. To share and continue the amazing swimming techniques developed by Myrna, the AWC hopes to become a national training center to teach and further develop these unique skills, with special emphasis on infant swimming/drown-proofing, and teaching the handicapped to swim and survive in the water.
